Malaysia Council Of Hindu Temples And Hindu Associations(MAHIMA) Distributes Funds To 125 Hindu Temples In Malaysia
The association disbursed a total of RM625,000 to 125 Hindu temples across Malaysia, with each temple receiving RM5,000. This financial distribution was made from the government’s allocated funds.
“The amount would be beneficial for the development and other activities conducted at the temples”, said Tan Sri Nadarajah, the president of MAHIMA.
Last year, Tan Sri Vigneswaran, Chairman of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), along with MAHIMA, formally appealed to the government for a substantial donation. This funding was specifically sought to facilitate the development and welfare initiatives aimed at Hindu temples across Malaysia.
With the successful acceptance of the appeal, the association received RM625,000 this year, and the funds were subsequently distributed among the various temples according to their respective needs, said Tan Sri Nadarajah who is also the president of Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthanam.
“MAHIMA and MIC joined hands for this initiative so that this will not be a political agenda. Additionally, both organizations are committed to working together to secure funds for temples that have not yet received financial assistance”, he added.
He shared this at the fund distributing event for the Hindu temples and association which took place at the Batu Caves temple. Committee members from 93 temples collected the mock cheque for the fund yesterday. The rest of the temples will be receiving the allocated fund soon.
Tan Sri Nadarajah has strongly advised temples that have not yet registered under MAHIMA to promptly complete the registration process. Temples with proper documentation and registration will be deemed eligible to receive funds.
According to Bernama, a few committee members from the respective temples that received the funds expressed that this financial assistance will be helpful for them in organizing social services, religious events, and prayers.
“We will be using this fund in better way. Even though this would be a small amount for larger temples, we hope that this financial support will be allocated annually”, they said.
They wished that similar forms of assistance should be progressively extended to all temples across Malaysia. The noteworthy initiative led by the Malaysia Council of Hindu Temples and Hindu Associations (MAHIMA) to distribute funds to 125 Hindu temples across Malaysia marks a significant step towards the preservation and development of Hindu religious institutions in the country.
